We are looking for a full-time PHP developer to join a small team of developers where you would primarily be involved in the implementation of major new features for and support of the web-based application of a high-profile client. Its an ideal opportunity to get involved with and help further shape an established business system handling many thousands of pounds a year.
This is a pure telecommuting job so we need someone who is self-motivated organised and who doesnt need unnecessary hand-holding. That said you will get all the support you need from the rest of the team who are a friendly bunch.
Basic Requirements:
A strong background in commercial web application development (PHP and PostgreSQL in this case). Previous experience doesnt necessarily have to be PHP-based but the ability to jump into it quickly from another language would be key.
Familiarity with versioning control - we primarily use Git and are transitioning most projects from Subversion.
Strong client and developer level communication skills. Most of your day-to-day client liaising will be via email so an efficient but friendly style would serve you well.
Desirables:
An awareness of Ruby and Ruby on Rails. A related application is developed in Rails and the ability to dip into it as required would be very useful.
